As this book moves deeper into the fripperies of its ghost story, Mr. Mitchell is savvy enough to have his characters, every so often, blow raspberries at the expense of all the solemnity. This is a book for everyone- not simply painters. It is a book for learning, or just endless wondrous gazing, professional and amateur alike. AS in all his books, Slade's story depends on the rotation of several plotlines that skip back and forth between time, location, and characters. Slade is one of those authors who you either love or hate; his "numerous plotlines" trick either annoys or intices the reader, as well as his tendency to never pull a single punch when it comes to /5(37).

This book is as awesome as the others. Great job can't wait to listen to Jax and Caroline's story although I already know what's going to happen still excited!☺ Overall 5 out of 5 stars.
Performance 5 out of 5 stars. Story. Slade House is a page-burning, read-in-one-sitting, at times terrifying novel that does for the haunted-house story what Henry James did for the ghost story in The Turn of the Screw.
It has all the intelligence and linguistic dazzle one expects from a David Mitchell novel, but it will also creep the pants off you.
Ok so I swoooooooned over Fury (book 1), but, Slade just made me 'swoo'the story was decent, but, I found it lacking a little in terms of depth or drama considering how many action packed and full of endearing moments the first book had.
Slade had its highs and lows throughout, but, by the end it just ended abruptly, which was a bummer. Packed with over era-defining photographs, this book tells the story of these much loved 70s heroes for the first time.
Slade have become part of the very fabric of British life. As a nation, it seems that 35 years after their first hit single, "Get Down And Get With It", we are all still Slade crazee/5(10).
They are Slade experts, and more importantly, Slade fans. That is what makes this book for me. The research done is outstanding, and well illustrated with picture sleeves, advertisements, record labels and more.
This book is by no means a biography. It concentrates on Slade’s output of releases, rather than the ‘Slade story’/5(79).
